To help better understand assessing business risk and crisis situations, we are bringing in Roy Reid and Jessi Blakley from Consensus Communications.
Roy Reid, APR, CPRC is a leading authority on issues management and crisis communications. His clients include Fortune 500® companies, private companies, entrepreneurs, professional service firms and public agencies.
Roy works to help clients assess risk and issues within the organization and in the marketplace, and then develop strategies to manage the identified issues from the inside/out. He has worked with leading brands, including the following companies:

Roy earned a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Communications from the University of Central Florida, where he also served as student body president. In 2007, he was recognized by the College of Business as its Alumni of the Year, for his professional achievements. In addition, he was inducted into the University of Central Florida’s Nicholson School of Communication Hall of Fame in 2010.
Roy is Accredited in Public Relations (APR) and an active member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). He is a Certified Public Relations Counselor (CPRC) of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA).
Roy and his wife Kim are lifelong Floridians and have four children ages 17, 14, 12 and 10. They are active in the community and their church.

Jessi Blakley, APR is an expert in media relations and reputation and issues management. Since joining Consensus in 2005, Jessi has managed a number of the firm’s accounts including Broad and Cassel, Burger King Corporation, Grace Medical Home, Lake Nona, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and ZOM Companies. Providing strategic public relations counsel, Jessi works with clients to develop and implement comprehensive strategies that position clients to achieve their business goals.
Jessi has played an integral role in establishing Lake Nona’s community and media relationships and has been involved in the launch and promotion of its ‘medical city’ since the arrival of Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute in 2007. She has also assisted Broad and Cassel’s nationally-recognized practice groups and award-winning attorneys garner continued business development and marketing opportunities through enhanced publicity, speaking events, community involvement and trade participation. Most recently, she has played an integral role in the successful openings of downtown Orlando’s newest high rises, including 55 West on Church Street and The Paramount on Lake Eola.
Jessi joined Consensus in January 2005, after nearly three years with the Cable News Network (CNN). During her time there, Jessi managed numerous successful media campaigns centered on major world events, including the War in Iraq and the 2004 political season. In addition, Jessi managed media relations for CNN, CNN Headline News and CNN en Español on-air talent. She also created and maintained the department’s internal Web site and managed CNN’s global speaker’s bureau.
Jessi currently serves as a Board member of the Orlando Regional Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Central Florida Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She was elected to serve a two-year term as an inaugural member of the Central Florida Partnership’s Central Florida Young Professionals Advisory Council. Jessi was also appointed to serve as an inaugural member of myregion.org’s South East Regional Board of Directors. She is also actively engaged with the American Heart Association, BioOrlando, BioFlorida, Downtown Orlando Partnership, East Orlando Chamber of Commerce, and the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission. Additionally, Jessi is a member of the Leadership Orlando Alumni Association.
Jessi is a former nationally-ranked, competitive three-event water-skier, who trained with the sports leading coaches, including Chet Raley, Joel McClintock, and Jaret Llewellyn. She skied for Auburn University and was invited to compete at both All Stars and Collegiate Nationals as AU team member. She now skis recreationally with her family on Lake Jennie Jewel in downtown Orlando.
