Open letter to all Parasail Operators
From Larry Meddock, Executive Director WSIA
We hope you have marked your calendars for Jan. 12-14, 2012 for the second annual Parasail Operators Symposium. We will be back at the Orange County Convention Center with our good friends from Surf Expo. This 2012 event will be one of the most important events of your 2012 year.
We have put together the most comprehensive agenda in order to make this event practical and useful for you. The Symposium will start Thursday, Jan. 12th about 8:30 am with ASTM International’s presentation of developing a new National Parasail Safety Standard. We are told that the USCG will be in attendance with officers from DC as well as field representatives. Florida Fish and Wildlife as well as the FAA will also be there.
You may have heard that Senator Dennis Jones has re-filed his parasail bill for the 2012 session of the Florida Legislature. We will be reviewing that bill as well as other topics.
A new parasail safety film will also be debuted at the Symposium.
We hope you agree that this Symposium is a must-attend event. The Symposium is free to all Parasail Operators/Owners and Captains. You must preregister in order to get your credentials.

Fineline, CWS and Custom Chutes will also have displays on the floor for your review with the latest in equipment. You will also be able to have one-on-one conversations with ASTM and the USCG in the WSIA booth on the floor.
Reminder: The WSIA’s Annual Summit in the Snow event is coming February 27-29, 2012 located in Crested Butte, Colorado. A Parasail workshop is scheduled and will be hosted by Dan Schultz from ASTM International. This workshop will be a continuation of the work accomplished at the Symposium.
If you should have any questions or need clarification, feel free to call or email me at anytime. The WSIA is your Parasail Association and we are here to help.
See you in January!
Larry Meddock
Executive Director, WSIA
