As of July 1, 2011, the State of Indiana has banned wakesurfing behind outboard and I/O boats. Leading to some confusion, both Direct Drive and V-Drive boats are exempt from the restriction, and wakesurfing is legal behind those types of boats.

With quick, professional action, the WSIA helped the watersports community of New Hampshire educate the area law enforcement about the legality of wakesurfing, to help preserve the emerging sport’s future in the state.
